John Tomassoni

I grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and after nearly two decades as a high school teacher in Maryland and Florida, I traded the classroom for the training field. My journey into dog training began in 2013 when we rescued our first German Shepherd, Fonso, from Animal Control in Orlando. Helping him settle into our family changed the way I looked at dogs — and, honestly, myself. Fonso was the reason I started down this path, and even though we said goodbye to him in 2024, his legacy is behind every lesson I teach.

Over the years, I immersed myself in the world of canine behavior — studying, shadowing mentors, walking dogs, helping neighbors, and eventually working part-time as a trainer. When my family and I moved back to Maryland, I knew it was time to launch Confetti Dogs full-time. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Every dog that comes through our program gets a plan tailored to their unique needs, and every family leaves more confident and connected.

Outside of training, I’m a husband, a dad, and a lifelong learner. I spend my free time hiking with my wife and kids, writing and playing music, watching Commanders games, and finding new ways to challenge myself with DIY projects. At the heart of it all, I believe training dogs is as much about teaching people as it is about shaping behavior — and I’m grateful every day for the chance to do both.
